HypnoBirthing renewal

Postby Susan » Mon Sep 15, 2008 8:11 pm

Hello all. My renewal is coming up in November and I don't know what I am supposed to be doing for it?! How much I am supposed to have read, how many talks etc..... Can anyone help me out here so I'm not suddenly thrown in the deep end. I haven't really been practicing since Jan, but would like to renew my membership as I am going to live in NZ soon and would like to give HB a go out there.
Any help most appreciated.
Love and light,
Su.

Hi Su,
This is such a difficult question to answer, I hate the fact that I can't get clear guidance on this. But if this is your first renewal, you need to do very little, as I seem to remember. Don't worry about it. Make a note of how much you spend on the nest, and of how many books you've read. That will probably do. If you've done a talk, that goes a long way but is not a neccessary criteria. If you want confirmation of that, e-mail Mary Ann Murphy and she can clarify on assistant@hypnobirthing.com.
Good luck in NZ - lucky *** :D

Hi mia. I will be up for renewal also in November although I only really started practicing in July, for personal reasons. I have never been on the nest, only on here........is that something we are all supposed to do? :?

I think you have to emil gene to ccess the nest-its a yahoo group. It really amazes me that when people do their training they aren't told about the nest or this website!

Thanks Danielle :) I think you're right, we should be given such information on training :? I'm just glad I found my way here :D

Can you please tell me where I can find gene's email address to ask for access?

Ok there are two groups, Gene is for the main nest, send him an email, I think he might ask your address and when you qualified, and then there is the resoucres group (lots of different useful files, there is a files section on the nest but this is different) you need to ask a different person for access.

Gene-for access to the nest- webmaster@hypnobirthing.com

Kathie Dolce-Hb resoucre-you can get her through the nest when you get on there or her email is kathiedolce@yahoo.com

ok for recertification I have done a online brestfeeding course- http://www.health-e-learning.com/content/section/4/48/, done a birth crisis workshop- http://www.sheilakitzinger.com/BirthCrisis.htm, attended homebirth conferences (various), Mias day for midwife thingy and HypnoBirthing study days, listed articles I've submitted, radio shows, free talks, I haven't done this all at once-I've been teching since 2002.

Does this help a bit? I've never had them say anything doesn't count-actually I have I tried to say the birth of my two sons was more thn any cpd I should ever need and not have to submit any again cause I learnt so much having two different births and I understood the techniques so much better that I shouldn't have to do any again! They wouldn't even let me off one year of cpd!

Talking of my day for midwife thingy  the next one is on the 15th October in Stoke Rochford, near Grantham (just off A1 and A46). I learnt a lot from the last one :? and this one has a lot of those things put right (I hope).
Anyway, it had great feedback, and if you want to know more, the details are on my swanky new website. www.mindfulmamma.co.uk
Is that enough plugs for one mail? :D

Sarah - I'm not doing the study day on week-ends, as with all the classes running on Saturdays and Sunday mornings (and I'm not doing week-end Hypnobirthing classes by the way, I only do four session classes now :( ) I want to leave a little time for my family. Most midwives are happy with week days. But I have been asked to go to other areas of the country, so when I crack the marketing problem, I probably will do that.
Danielle - no worries about the midwife thingy. I did not take offence in the slightest, hence the  .I kind of like it actually! 8)

Renewal criteria

Postby gordon_mullan » Thu Sep 25, 2008 2:54 pm

When the time comes for your renewal, you'll get sent a pack/email listing exactly what you need to do.

To quote from the current criteria (and it does change sometimes):
"Criteria for Yearly Renewal

With your membership renewal, the following criteria are in effect: All submissions should be carefully and neatly presented in typewritten form for review.

1. A statement that the current textbook has been reread within a month of renewal. (Please include particular items that were reinforced by the reading.)

2. A brief review, noting highlights, of one book on the recommended reading list. Approved substitutions will be accepted.
(Submit copy)

3. A total of 15 Continuing Professional Development/Education Units to be earned every two years.* (Submit CEU statements or validating documents.)

4. The submission of a copy of all brochures or promotional literature that you currently use in connection with your HypnoBirthing® practice. If you have a website, please be sure that the URL for your website is listed on the renewal form.

*Qualifying courses include, but are not be limited to, attendance as a B-Back at a HypnoBirthing® Practitioner Certification Workshop (This is to be a requirement for anyone certified prior to 2001 who has not attended a class since being certified. There is no charge for attending a refresher workshop.), attending the Annual HypnoBirthing® Conclave, enrollment in the HypnoBirthing® Professional Labor Companion Program, and or the HypnoBirthing® Fertility Therapist Program, pre- or post-Conclave workshops, and other approved programs offered by recognized hypnotherapy or birthing organizations.

Additional Continuing Education Units can be earned by writing an article on HypnoBirthing® for local or national publication, participating in a project that is designed to promote the growth of HypnoBirthing® (such as organizing and working with a HypnoBirthing® Parents' Booster Support group), conducting an in-service presentation at a birthing facility or before a health care provider group, appearing on a radio or television show promoting HypnoBirthing®, or
volunteering to assume a project or task that contributes to the enhancement of our learning materials, and other creative projects that are pre-approved.

Continuing Education Units will be assigned on the basis of actual contact hours and are cumulative."

Hope that helps.

Also, membership of the nest should be granted automatically, assuming you supply an email address when you send your assessment.

and Gene's email address is webmaster@hypnobirthing.com

:D Thank you very much Gordon for all of that information, it's very helpful.

About the automatic membership of the nest; I did submit an email address when I was assessed but don't remember getting any sort of info about the nest ie password or website address. I emailed Gene last week at the address given, but have had no reply as yet.

Many thanks for your help.

Kaz :)
