can one of my mums train to be a practioner?

Postby Danielle » Thu Jul 15, 2004 12:29 pm

One of my mums (who had a great hypnobirth baby) would like to become a practioner. However she isn't a doula, hypnotherapist, midwife etc. She is a teacher and I think she would be great teaching other and to me she has the beat qualifcation-having a HB baby. Would she be allowed to train?
Thanks

Yes. I actually just had an email from Gene Mongan about that very subject.

I think she may need to have a chat with Mickey, but they definitely do accept people that don't have one of the 'professional' backgrounds.

Answer is yes, anyone with a passion to pass on this wonderful method can register and take the course. The best recommendation is a mum who has had a child with the HypnoBirthing method. Her belief is there, her passion is there and she will naturally carry that message through in her teaching!

I know this is an older post, but where would you look first for information on going into hypnobirthing teaching? Thankyou :)

from what I have read you do need to do much more training if you are not a doula, hypnotherapist etc to begin with. i think it should be compulsory to be a HB mum, or at least to have given birth as some may come to it later in life after their family is complete, in a quest to find some way to make it better for others coming after them
M practitioner sadly isn't even a mum and you can really tell - this is maybe where other self hypnosis for childbirth classes do just edge forward with much more focus on actual birthing and baby development/ It should also be compulsory that they are fully aware of current care giving facts and familiarity with rules and regulations of all local facilities.
They could be the best hpnotherapist in the world but end of the day when it comes to the crunch we are doing self hypnosis, they aren't there with us, usually! I could not have imagined birthing without the additional lessons I gained through my NCT classes. My NHS classes helped me appreciate the peculiarities of my chosen birthing place too.
