Hi,

I noticed that if I am a qualified hypnotherapist and a birthing professional then it would be possible for me to do the weekend Certification Workshop for HypnoBirthing®. In June I will qualify as a hypnotherapist. I am also a recently qualified nurse and during my training I had a placement on a maternity unit studying anti and post natal care, I was also able to witness a natural birth. Currently I am working within anaesthetics and as part of my job I am involved in the care of labouring women.

My question is ..... Is my experience enough that I would be able to only attend the weekend certification workshop?

Many Thanks,

Simon

Hi Simon,

As a hypnotherapist, you don't need to do that part of the training, but I think you may still be expected to do the birth basics part, given that you haven't actually got a qualification in birthing. But if you really don't want to do it (I'd ask why not, because a good knowledge of birthing is invaluable) you could always check with the Institute. Marie Mongan herself will let you know. Mail her at hypnobirthing@hypnobirthing.com.

I'm pretty sure that you have to have a birth specific qualification - either midwifery training, doula training or antenatal teacher training in order to miss out on the birth basics course.
