Hopefully you've seen the announcement on the front page but, just in case you haven't, here it is.
The "Richard and Judy" show has agreed to feature an interview with Marie Mongan and Jenny Mullan on Thursday 8th July.
Jenny will also be taking one of her clients with her (Marie Cooksey, whose birth story you can read here).
We have no further details at the moment, but as soon as we do, we'll let everyone know.
This is fantastic news, and should work wonders for raising the profile of HypnoBirthing in the UK!
Best regards

Things aren't running quite as smoothly as we had hoped.
There was some debate earlier this week as to whether the interview would actually go ahead at all, but Jenny seems to have now confirmed it is.
However, they then decided that perhaps they didn't need Jenny after all, as she "could not say anything that Mickey couldn't". Jenny is currently in the process of impressing upon them that this is not actually the case, and we are awaiting the outcome.
Tricky stuff!
We'll keep you posted.

OK, latest update is that it is definitely only going to be Mickey (Marie Mongan), and Jenny's couple (Marie Cooksey and Steve Bowerman).
Jenny is travelling down to the studio with Marie and Steve, so will get to see what goes on but is not going to be on camera.
Channel 4 have put the details of the feature on their website, so it looks like we're definitely on!
The spiel says:
| Quote: | Pain Free Childbirth Through Hypnosis
Over 1000 people in the UK have opted to use a form of self hypnosis for pain free childbirth. The method, called the Mongan Theory, teaches you that in the absence of fear and tension, severe pain does not have to be an accompaniment of labour and the mother can experience ‘little or no discomfort’ during the birth. Marie Mongan, the founder of the Mongan theory, joins Richard & Judy along with a couple who have used the method for the birth of their first child. |
OK, it should be Mongan Method, not Mongan Theory, but I'm sure Mickey will be emphasising this during the interview. Hopefully Jenny will get a good name-check from Marie and Steve, and the details of the website should be on the Channel 4 information page shortly after the show.
Best regards
Gordon

| I thought Mickey would have mentioned this site, as they didn't give any info on how to find out more. It does say it on there website though. Noticing on the website it also says links to Jennys site, I don't think it should do this (sorry Jenny) because it may lead people to think Jenny is the only practioner in the UK, hopefully people will realise that there are more practioners. |

Hello there,
I have just joined your forum as I have just seen the item on the show and think it was very positive. I am so pleased that there is mainstream publicity about women being able to tap into their own powers and reclaim the birth experience. I followed the links in the channel 4 website - it was all quite clear. I am not pregnant (yet) and know that many women have fears over childbirth which can in fact prevent them from conceiving in the first place - it would be interesting to hear views on this aspect of infertility - if any of you have any thoughts
thank you (and congratulations)

| I didn't mean to sound like I was getting at Jenny, if she put the whole thing together she whould of been allowed to go on and represent herself, I just thought it was Marie that had arranged it as she was the one there. I think that if Jenny did the work then she should be given credit for it. There is some information about infertility on the USA hypnobirthing website, but have just tried to access it and can't, www.hypnobirthing.com I will put the fertility link up when the site is back up. |

Just thought I'd post an update.
The response has been HUGE. So far, we've had had just under 200 enquiries for classes and they're still pouring in!
We had over 350 visitors between 5:30pm and midnight yesterday.
So far, we've had 192 people follow the link from the Channel 4 website - the rest are doing web searches for "Marie Mongan", "mongan theory", "painless childbirth", "richard and judy", etc.
There is now a dedicated page on the UK website, with details of the appearance, a photo of Richard and Judy with Mickey and Jenny, and guidance for visitors as to what page they need to go to get details of their nearest classes, etc.
www.hypnobirthing.co.uk/hypnobirthing_on_richard_and_judy.shtml
When I get a chance, I will digitise the video tape of the show and get that posted to the website as well.
We've also had enquiries from people wanting to train as practitioners, and various other enquiries sparked by the feature.
This has been a roaring success, and we are hoping this will lead to features in other media as well. We have already had interest from a couple of national newspapers.
All I can say is....watch this space!
Best regards

Just thought everyone might appreciate an update on the number of enquiries.
The last time we spoke to George, who handles the referrals, he had had over 800 enquiries from the show, and they're still coming in! I reckon it'll be over 1000 when all's said and done.
Jenny has also had dozens of enquiries direct to her, and has had to put on extra courses to deal with the demand.
We really couldn't have asked for more. |

I don't have a breakdown by country as we don't handle the referrals directly. I don't know whether George (distribution@hypnobirthing.com) might have those numbers?
Sorry I can't help further.
Best regards

Hi from North of the border,
I can speak for myself and a few others. Response has been patchy. I will run four courses (individual couples) in September. Three of them came as a result of the R and J Show. It took a while, as they have only booked in the last week.
I have spoken to two other practitioners, who have had enquiries, but have had either one or no bookings from the show. Another practitioner is extremely busy. It does seem, however, that the HypnoBirthing profile in Scotland needs to be raised.
Wonder if you hail from Scotland yourself?

Can say it is patchy to the West of the country too. In Shropshire I have only had 2 enquiries as a result of the show and 1 of those lived in Manchester.
Disappointing as I had hoped it would generate better results but never mind. I am glad others gained from the exposure and that Jenny, in particular, is doing well

Hi there,
I think there might have been a much better response if the web site had been given out over air.
I know if I watch an article I am interested in I want to know how to contact it straight away, and also not everyone has access to the internet, so a phone number would have been useful

I had 11 enquiries as a result-9 have taken the course, but I haven't had any more enquirries over the past 3 weeks:(
I think a lot of people search for HypnoBirthing etc, see the high london prices and forget it. If was someone wanting to take the course and thought it was going to cost over £200 then I wouldn't be able to do it. I charge less-the average wage up here is less. If I charged more I know some people who I have taught would not have been able to take the course |
