Hi everyone on the UK forum; Just wanted to introduce myself as a new practitioner to prospective parents and practitioners alike. Have spoken to some of you before both here and on the USA site - all responses have been invaluable and i thank you all.
Due to news of an event which may appeal across the board, i shall post this across the site.
I am Bernie Allport, living in Nuneaton, Warwickshire and work also as a community midwife and a support worker for black, minority ethnic and refugee women. I am setting up HB classes within the Coventry, Leics, Staffs, B'ham borders as well as the local Nuneaton, Bedworth, Exhall locality. My venue has good access from the M6(J3), A46, A444, M69, M42.
I would be keen to meet up with other local practitioners, especially midwives.
The event i mention is a Health & Wellbeing day next Sunday 25th Nov at the Chase hotel, Higham Lane, Nuneaton - 10-4pm - £2 entry with bookable on the day therapies. Proceeds to Warwickshire air ambulance. Book launch by acclaimed aromacologist Danielle Ryman.
Therapies on offer include Reiki & baby reiki info, Aromatherapy, Indian head massage, Bach flower remedies & spatone by Maggie Evans, sports injury massage,Relexology, First aid courses info, Baby massage. We have a Pregnancy & Baby corner which is where i will be - introducing HB to the area! The day is being organised by a new group called Complementary Network - who comprise local therapists who are going to network their businesses with the aid of a register of members.
Such an event is a first for me, so i know not what to expect - but like a good party - the more the merrier!
So if anyone is in the area and fancies popping along to say hello, it would be lovely to see you!
The nearest postcode that i know is CV11 6AS, then you're on Higham Lane! Just off the A5 between Fenny Drayton and Dodwells ind. estate.
Otherwise shall be posting again soon - Bernie.

Hi folks, just realized i've posted the wrong motorway junction for my HypnoBirthing classes venue!!
If anyone's confused, it's actually J3 of the M6, not J2 as stated (absolutely everywhere!) - got to go and change it everywhere now!
Oh well, at least i spotted it before someone goes off on a wild goose chase!
Cheers, Bernie.

To try and avoid confusion, have edited your original post.

You should be able to do this yourself in future - just click on the Edit button next to the original post.

Also, please don't repeat posts in multiple forums - pick the most appropriate one and post it there. In this case, I think this is the best place.

Best regarsd

Thanks Gordon for the tips!
I had never noticed the edit button until you said; good point about repeating across the forum - unsure how it all works as a newcomer!
Thanks for putting my post in the correct section,
Best wishes, Bernie.

Hi Bernie,
I am local to you - warwickshire and shall be setting up HB classes around here once I get my certification. I used to work at Warwick hospital and now work as a doula.

Feel free to contact me as it would be lovely to get together.

new practitioner in West Midlands

Postby scoggs » Wed Jun 11, 2008 4:37 pm

Hiya Bernie,
Just read your post and thought I'd get in touch. My name is Sarah Hodgkins, and I'm an Occupational Therapist by trade. I'm also a trained Hypnotherapist and Reiki practitioner. I've recently completed the course and am looking forwards to getting going with the groups. I am from near Dudley, so can cover this area (e.g. Stourbridge, Wolverhampton, Birmingham). It would be great to hear from you, and hopefully start to get some networking going for local practitioners. Thanks, Sarah

Hi Scoggs and Hel c,
I realize i've never replied to your introductions, how rude of me!
Welcome to you both - have no spare time for new ideas at present but will have a think and see if there's any good networking ideas for our area. How are you both getting on with registration, practise, setting up etc?
Catch you soon, Bernie.
