I am also reading Marie Mongans book, and doing her CDs as well as a hyponobirthing for twins CD most days and am planning on just doing the express course as we are having a doula and I need to save money somewhere!

There is no such thing as an express HypnoBirthing course. All HypnoBirthing tuition is 12.5hrs as standard. If you are being offered an express course it is NOT HypnoBirthing!

It's a nine hour course with good recommendations - there is a longer one available - over 4 evenings I think!

Well if it's 9hrs it is not HypnoBirthing, despite the fact it may be advertised as so. All HypnoBirthing courses MUST be 12.5hrs long, there is no way you could condense the course down to 9hrs. So if you want to do proper HypnoBirthing I would keep looking!

Ocky is right...............HB practitioners have to sign an agreement to teach 12.5 hours per course, preferably in 5 sessions - unless there are time or distance considerations.

Hi there,

I wonder if you are getting confused with the one day Mindful Mamma course, which is 6 hours, not 9 hours? Or you could be thinking of any other hypnosis for birth course, of which there are a few, and it can get confusing. Basically, HypnoBirthing - the Mongan method is what we these replies are referring to, and what this website is about - and it is always at least 12 hours over at least four sessions. That's how you know you're getting the real deal. If you are being offered Mongan's HypnoBirthing course for any fewer hours than that, something is wrong with the way the practitioner is going about it - don't go there!
The one day Mindful Mamma course is not the same. It is shorter, and it covers different things. I happen to teach both, so I know the difference, and I would just say that as a golden rule: the more time you put into your birth preparation the better, and a four week course will give you more - by definition - that a one day course.
I hope that helps! :D
