Sleep breathing

Postby Ohioriverboat » Thu Dec 27, 2007 12:42 pm

Hi there,

I'm nearly 39 weeks with baby no. 2. We attended a hypnobirthing course in October and I've been practising the CDs pretty much every day - not that much practice with partner as he's been working a lot, but trying to remedy that at the moment.

Two questions:

Should I be sleep breathing whilst doing the Rainbow Relaxation for example?
When I did the course I felt like I was looking foward to birth; now it's nearly here, I've had a few last minute jitters. Any suggestions on how to deal with these?

Thanks a lot
Rachel

hi Rachel , yes sleep breathing is good during rainbow relaxation.
Can you see your HypnoBirthing teacher and ask her to support you through your jitters ? I am sure she would be very happy to help you eject them from your mind ! ( and you would feel loads better )

you should find that the sleep breathing comes naturally and you may be able to do it without counting, sometimes people find counting gets in the way of relaxing others find it helps them.

Its normal to think 'can I really do this?' espically when everyone else is dreading childbirth and needing epidurals etc. I found reading the birth stories in the book helpful to keep me calm, I also used the method to get relaxed quickly (such as facial, disappearing letters or progressive relaxation) to help me get over any feelings of panic.
