Position of the baby at 29 weeks

Postby Marie78 » Sun Jan 10, 2010 5:41 pm

The baby was in a transverse position at our last midwife appointment and whilst the midwife reassured us there was lots of time to turn I feel this is a favoured position of the baby for quite some time now and I don't want the baby to get too comfy therefore I have been using the knee-chest position for about 10 minutes each evening, pillows to stop myself sleeping on my back and trying to sit as upright as possible at all times. I have also read a few things which suggest talking to the baby and asking them to turn so I have been talking and singing a little made up song and just really wondering if there is anything else we can try to get the baby used to being in other positions? I think what I am doing is working a bit at the moment from where I can feel the movements but I also think the baby is a bit stubborn and is moving back to transverse when it gets the chance!!! Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi Marie,

Congratulations on your pregnancy. 29 weeks is a lovely place to be - it's a shame this is worrying you :( .
It's a bit like worrying because your baby isn't fat enough or doesn't sleep enough, or is moving too much, etc etc. It seems a shame to start now over something which, as far as I know, is nothing to worry about until your baby is 37 weeks.
HypnoBirthing is about trusting your body and your baby, and while you are still without ANY indication of being a special cirmcumstance, I would suggest you focus on trusting your body and your baby by working on taking on board the affimations and the philosophy, the baby bonding (accepting your baby and loving your baby - rather than trying to change behavious already  )and enjoying this special time.
There is SO much worry thrown at us throughout pregnancy and babyhood (scans dont' always help).- HypnoBirthing is so good for easing those worries and fears, so well done for choosing such a great start to your babies life. It begins now, with your cd and affirmations, and book.
Go enjoy! :D

I agree absolutely with Mia. Further along in your pregnancy the Polar Bear position is great for ensuring that baby gets into the right position and stays there...............but at this stage of your pregnancy there is still loads of time for baby to move around.

Please try not to worry - enjoy this special time together, just you and your lovely unborn baby :D xxx

Thanks for all your replies, rather than worried I think I am probably more over enthusiastic. We are enjoying our hypnobirthing sessions so far and also hoping to have a home birth as we feel it is best for the three of us. I just thought maybe if I start to work with the baby now and try to help them that when the time is right for them to turn they will be able to help so that we can all stay in the comfort and privacy of our own home. Now just over 8 weeks to go until baby might arrive and I am really looking forward to it so fingers crossed we will be able to achieve the home birth using our hypnobirthing techniques.
