overdue and worried about being induced

Postby loulou79 » Mon Sep 21, 2009 10:27 am

Hi, I'm new to the site and this is my first posting - I hope that someone can advise/reassure me!

I'm currently 41 weeks pregnant and I have followed the hypnobirthing course for the whole of the last trimester. I have been incredibly relaxed, which comes as a bit of a surprise as I always thought I'd be terrified, and have really enjoyed the relaxing techniques. My husband and I have been really looking forward to the birthing process....until recently.
My doctor is very keen to induce me in the next couple of days despite me and my partner saying we'd rather wait if the baby is healthy. I've tried everything natural to induce labour(reflexology/curry/sex/nipple stimulation..the lot!) and nothing has worked. My cervix is still closed and I literally have no braxton hicks.

What I'm starting to get worried about is that I will end up being induced and then the medical interventions will cascade from there. I'm really worried I won't have the natural birth I'm so eager to have.

Is there anyone else out there who is/has been in a simiar situation?
I'd love to hear from you, I'm worried I'm working myself up into a panic and undoing any good work all our practice has done!

Thanks! x

Hi
Hopefully you baby has arrived by now, without any induction. I found that I could manage being induced with just gas and air, I was induced with syntocin and the HypnoBirthing really helped me stay calm and relaxed. For my secod baby I had a natural birth, being induced was harder but not impossible and it didn't lead to lots of other intervention. Have you tried contacting your teacher and asking if they can do the fear release again with you?
