Postby grunini » Sat Jun 05, 2010 10:35 pm

hello,

i am 18 weeks plus. and i live in scandinavia and where i live there are no available courses for hypnobirthing. i plan on having a home birth and i would really like to use hypnobirthing during labor. so i ask if you buy the book and the cd is it possible to self train ? and if yes when should i start practising ?

best regards,

Hi, I have the same question. I live in France and am 35 weeks pregnant so I don't have much time left to teach myself. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

In answer to both of you 'Yes' it is possible to train yourself (but classses are recommended!). Just remember that with the four techniques breathing, relaxation using the CD, deepening practice with your birth companion and the visualisation, that you practice, practice and practice some more! This is the only disadvantage of HypnoBirthing! All of these four techiniques combined and explained in the book will get you through the birth.

Just remember to trust your body and relax your body as much as you can incorporating the breathing at each stage of labour. Get your husband to use the birth affirmations that you like most throughout your birth, the Light Touch massage and even the facial relaxation technique on page 92 will get you off to a great start when labour begins and you get settled into your hospital room. As for your position of birthing choose whatever is most comfortable for you (not the medical staff!). Good luck and please let me know when your babies are born and how you got on.

Hi Marie,

Well put. :D
I'd only add that the "practice practice practice" is a major advantage (not disadvantage) of HypnoBirthing. It's healthy, fun, rejuvenating and every time you do it, you "build" a calmer baby. Even if you never even have a baby, the practice is wonderful in itself. (Getting into a routine is the sticking point sometimes, but once you've done that, the practice is lovely 8) .
Good luck!

thank you for your replies:) it is good to hear that you can do it yourself when that is the only option. my first birth was rather quick but very painful even though i was well prepared...i hope with hypnobirthing it is going to be different this time around.
