Is it normal to worry you're not responding well enough?

Postby elron4551 » Wed Nov 12, 2008 5:28 pm

I am 34 weeks and have been practicing relaxation techniques and breathing with my partner, and listening to the CD regularly since I did my course about 8 weeks ago. Although I know a key ingredient for a successful hypnobirth experience is to think positively about the birth, I worry I am not feeling a concrete improvement in my responses to the exercises (apart from sleep breathing, which is becoming 2nd nature). Is this familiar to anyone? Has anyone felt like this and gone on to a safer, more comfortable birth?

Yes, totally normal!

What I will suggest though is that if you have any doubt in your mind it would be worth going back to your practitioner to work through these worries, perhaps another fear release is in order - or just a refresh of the skills with an experienced guide.

Good luck!
