Hypnobirthing with a full epidural?

Postby twinjam » Tue Aug 30, 2011 5:30 pm

I am expecting twins, and wondering if I will be able to use hypnobirthing, before I invest in a course.

My twins are sharing a placenta, so I will need to have an epidural in place and active throughout the birth, including the 2nd stage, to enable a fast c-section if an emergency should arise. It is not ideal, and I have had a baby naturally before, but there is no choice for this birth due to the risks involved (my hospital is going against the grain letting me try vaginal delivery in any case). So my question is, will I be able to use hypnobirthing techniques effectively, especially the birth breathing, while I have an epidural. I am pretty apprehensive about the prospect of 2nd stage with little to no feeling.

Any experienced advice would be very welcome.
Thanks
