Can I have no dilation checking?

Postby kenashnic » Wed Nov 23, 2011 6:22 pm

I really dont want my cervix checked for dialtion when Im in labour as it will make me feel very uncomforatble and ruin my hypnosis. Is it really necessary? Im hypnobirthing and will be breathing my baby down anyway so Ill be letting it all happen naturally. I dont want all this checking and timescales etc. Surely Ill feel when my baby starts to move down my birth canal? Thanks!

Hi Kenashnic

It is your right to decline anything in labour including Vaginal Examinations, put it in your birth preferences and discuss with your midwife. They have to get your consent before doing anything. Hope this helps.
