Birth breathing

Postby GeorgeyGal » Mon Apr 04, 2011 2:27 pm

During class we learned birth breathing as a short deep intake of breath through the nose and then blow it out through the mouth but in the book it says to use the nose to draw the breath down the throat down to baby, is there a 'right' way? I have been practicing this and to be honest I do prefer breathing through my mouth.

When you are ready to breath your baby down birth breathing just takes over. I sounded like a mooing cow ! the midwife thought I was mad  Its compleatly different to the breathing you use when having surges and you can't really practice untill you are doing it for real. What I can tell you is that during the breathing down bit of my labour I FELT NO PAIN. just pressure and did these funny mooing noises for about 20mins and had an 11lb 5oz baby boy :) Try not to get into a fuss about the different breathing methods. Try and remember what Hypnobirthing is all about, letting your body and your baby do what they are meant to do.
