Birth breathing confusion

Postby spro01 » Tue Oct 18, 2011 4:42 pm

Hello,
I have just finished my Hypnobirthing course which was great and I thought that I fully understood the concept of birth breathing after going through it with the teacher (I didn't find the book's description particuarly clear). However on subsequent discussions with my husband, he thinks I have misunderstood the right and most efficient technique. My teacher has also just gone away so is unavailable to help now...

My question is, I understand that you have to 'bear down' and 'breathe down' but I am now confused over the technique -I thought that it was similar to warming breath in yoga, where you breathe in and breathe out and down through your throat and that is how you direct it in the J. However my husband has said that it not right and that you actually properly breathe out of your mouth and direct it down in that way...

Please could somebody help since I know how important it is and I want to be 100% happy that I am doing it in the right way...

Thank you!

Hi,

I hope some replies to you as I haven't really a clue about the breathing.
I have one more session in my Hypnobirthing, problem been the teaher is new, we are her first cilents........
Seems as though she just reads out the book and just tells us to read the book tells us eerything in there.

We have done a couple of relaxation sessions, but apart from that, I have no clue on Breathing down the baby, she said you will understand when you are in labour??????????????????????????
A??????

Please someone reply!!

Does this help?

I also suggest to my hypnomummies that they hum as it is using the same breath but without wondering if they are doing it right. Simply take a short deep breath in and hum down. If you are humming with tension it will be obvious :)

If you get a natural urge to bear down then you simply go with your body.
