Hello, I am considering practitioner training after a woman I helped during labour and birth used the method with her first baby. I was so impressed. I knew then that this would be something wonderful I could bring to my practice.

Have found this forum very interesting and hope someone will let me know the training dates for this year and how to book asap.

I have a question I hope someone will be able to answer. Can you help women with hypnobirthing techniques in labour if they have not had instruction previously? I would like to teach classes and also use hypnobirthing at work.

With thanks

Cate

Welcome Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
If you go to http://www.hypnobirthing.co.uk/practitioner/ you should be able to put your name down to be emailed future training dates when they come up.

In regards to the using techniques for people who haven't practiced I think this would be quite hard as alot of the course emphases the relaxation and if the person is not relaxed and has lots of fear and emphases it might be hard to get them to relax. Also the breathing we do we practices so that it comes naturally, almost without thinking, so it might be hard to get a laboring woman to do it. I believe if the woman could pick the breathing up during laboring then it would help her, but it might be difficult for her to get the hang of it.

I have only ever been to two non HB births so maybe midwives who use HB would be better to talk about this.

yup , i modify the techniques and have mostly normal births with no analgesia , i have a good reputation for this. even if i am allocated "high risk " ladies , the techniques work for everybody at any time. obviously according to the individual situation .even if things are going pear shaped , the skills are brilliant , do the training , its fab ! eleanor
