Hi new here

Postby momof5angelz » Thu Sep 08, 2005 1:52 pm

Hello,

I have had 5 children. The first baby came 2 weeks late I lost it really after a 15 hour labour, but didn't have any stitches. 2nd baby took 1 hour, 3rd an induction due to IUGR took 48 hours the drip was turned up too fast and then I had a hemhorrage, 4th an induction took 4 hours and was the best birth yet.. and my 5th took 17 hours and was very draining!

I am 5 weeks away from having my baby Girl. I am calm during the labour but seem to lose it as soon as I am fully dialated. Afterwards I don't want to hold my baby, and need time to come back to normal, then I bond with the baby when Dad has gone and it's just me and baby. Birth is something I dread it is so hard on me.. I have sleep apnea too and haven't been fitted with my CPAP yet.

I always use Entanox, and will again, but will give Pethadine a miss. I am very interested in HypnoBirthing, but am not sure if there is time now?

Hi
I'm a practitioner and you still have time! As you have about 5 weeks you will stay motivated and keep practicing the techniques! I sometimes find with mums that start 15 weeks or earlier they keep thinking they have lots of time then at the least minute-think I'd better start practicing....

I have taught lots of couples at 35 weeks and have some great birth stories because of it.

I was induced with my baby and it works well with being induced, one positive for me was that I knew 3 weeks before when my due date was!

What are IUGR and CPAP?

Good luck with having a great birth (great births aren't always short), if you have any more questions-ask and get in touch with a HB practitioner near you ASAP!

Hi,

Many thanks for the reply..

IUGR is inter-uterine growth retardation, posh for the placenta has stopped working and the baby isn't growing.

CPAP is treatment for my Sleep Apnea I will have to wear a mask thing to stop my airways collapsing.. I stop breathing during the night starving myself of oxygen.. I don't get quality sleep.

A local HB practitioner wants £200 for a course.. does this sound about right?

My baby was induced because they said the fluid was low and placenta wasn't working.

You could contact the hb insitute for a list of your local practitioners and call round for prices, £200 is more than I charge, but I'm in a different part of the country and prices vary. You can ask for a list here www.hypnobirthing.co.uk/hypnobirthing_classes.php

Price of HypnoBirthing

Postby gordon_mullan » Thu Sep 08, 2005 10:04 pm

Just a quick note to say that £200 is about right. Practitioners teaching groups are usually around £200-£250 (very-ish), with one-to-one costing more, up to around £450 depending on where you are.

Do check that they are certified by The HypnoBirthing Institute though by requesting the current list through the link Danielle gave.

Best regard
